Books And Borrowing

Your Library Card

Library card applications are available in the library. Photo ID and proof of address (such as driver’s license, lease, utility bill, bank statement, or other mail addressed to you) are required and children ages 3-17 must have a parent or guardian’s co-signature on the application. Teacher cards are available for public school teachers and home-schooling parents.

Most books and audio materials may be checked out for 18 days and magazines and movies for 7 days.  Adult and child cards may have a maximum of 9 items checked out on their card at one time. (Checkouts on all new cards is limited to two items for the first 60 days.)  Movies and magazines are limited to 3 items per check out.

Renewing Materials

Books and audio items may be renewed two times as long as no hold requests have been placed by other patrons. Interlibrary loan items are not renewable.

Reserving Materials

Library staff can reserve books for patrons and hold these items for one week (excluding days the library is closed), after which time the book will be available for loan to another borrower.

Interlibrary loan items will be held for five working days and after that time automatically returned to the borrowing library.

New patrons have a 60 day waiting period before receiving interlibrary loan privileges.

Fines, Fees & Charges 

Overdue books and audio materials are .10 a day and interlibrary loan .50 a day.

Interlibrary loan late fees may be charged by the lending library.

Replacement cost for lost or damaged materials checked out to your card may be assessed.

Did you know books can be borrowed from other library systems for your use? Wray Public Library participates in SWIFT, an interlibrary loan service, and a courier service to bring books from other libraries to you. More than 300 public, academic, school, and special libraries from across Colorado are SWIFT members, which means greater access to books and other library materials for Wray cardholders. Submit and Interlibrary Loan Request and we’ll do our best to borrow the item for you.
